Reuzenbollen

Giant tulip bulbs cycle route

The ‘Bollenstreek’ is worth visiting all year round. Especially now that the Gildemeesters Bollenstreek Foundation has started the art project ‘Giant Tulip Bulbs’. The man-sized works of art in the shape of a tulip bulb were painted by artists from the Bollenstreek. From Leiden to Haarlem, 80 Giant Bulbs will be placed, each telling its own story.
The first version of the ‘Reuzenbollen cycle route’ has been launched in collaboration with Rent a Bike van Dam. This route includes 30 Giant Bulbs. Highly recommended! And while you are on the route, stop by SBIC for a cup of coffee or a sandwich.
Would you like to cycle the route? Then scan the QR code and download the ‘RouteNetwerk’ app.

Pure Africa coffee

SBIC Reception Services serves coffee from Pure Africa. From every kilo of coffee beans, 1 euro goes to microcredit for coffee farmers in Africa. With every cup of coffee you invest in the future of African coffee farmers.

Gorette Niyonsaba’s microcredit

Pure Africa strives for sustainable impact on a local level. They do this, among other things, by providing microcredit to coffee farmers in Africa. With these microcredits, more than 300 farmers in Africa have already invested in growth.

One of the coffee farmers with such a microcredit is Gorette Niyonsaba, she lives in the west of Rwanda. On the plantation that has been in the family for generations, she recently planted about 12,000 new coffee bushes, so that she now owns a total of 20,000 coffee bushes. In addition to coffee, she also grows cassava, beans, bananas and vegetables on the farm. Gorette is a member of the Kowakambu coffee cooperative.

Gorette hopes to harvest the first coffee from her new bushes next season. Her dream is to one day have her own car to take her harvest to the Coffee Washing Station.
